While I have been served them, not once has anyone explained the history/cultural contexts. I have always assumed there was some (especially as my partner tends to receive them at the start of the scholastic year from students.)
No doubt the #Wikipedia article is woefully limited, but I feel I learned a bit more about them today. Thanks!
