What's good for hardware is good for the budget … and environment! 🌻
LliureX #Linux with #KDEPlasma in Valencian schools saves the public administration *3.5 million euros a year* for 110,000 computers.
[1]* School HW has lifespan up to 18 years while running up-to-date software
[2]* Cheap easy-to-manage "light clients" ideal for very old upcycled HW
[3]* LliureX-Shutdowner saves energy by turning off unused computers school-wide

Still playing osu! with ar11 random mirror mods.
Unlike most "gamers", I use 1366x768 60 Hz VGA monitor, btw. Never managed to buy some modern monitor with modern res cos monehhh, plus it still works.
I bought the main one with my own money and the second monitor, I just got it from my old workplace, lol.
Oh I also stopped using KDE. Wayland gets in the fucking way of me having fun when I have AR11, HP11, and OD11 set on osu!. The latency is noticeable. Feels like my mousepad is "well-oiled" when I'm in X11, Still love KDE tho but yeah..

This case focuses on Apple's obligations under Article 6(7) of the #DMA. Specifically how Apple must open up software & hardware interoperability on its smartphones and tablets.
The EU Court explicitly recognised this case will likely have "a significant impact on the supply of #FreeSoftware." 💡

With all the AI slop getting into open source software, even respected ones, I feel we should have a new category in the usual separation between opensource and closed source, like in the debian non-free and cobtrib.
We now need a (free)-ai category, for those projects who finally decided to not care anymore. In reality, we don't even know if they can be categorized as free anymore since the AI has been trained with some various codebase with potential closed source license.
That would maybe make the community fork aggressively the projects who turned stupid.
It's a lot of work, though, and I don't know how maintenable it is.

My current desktop.
Devuan GNU/Linux 6, OpenRC, XLibre and XFCE4. Nothing particularly modern or flashy, but stable, light and made to my liking.

For my shop machine, I'm now actively testing Debian 14 Testing w/ Xlibre and SonicDE. So far, so good. I use this machine for client work and it also gets to be my guinea pig for testing drawing tablet workflows. Both native Xlibre (via wacom) and Gaomon's proprietary driver work. I'm impressed with how snappy SonicDE is - first time using it today. Great work folks‼️
