So #KDE apparently decided to say goodbye to X11.
Result: When I open #Ardour, it crashes the moment it says "Indexing Plugins". I can delete ~/.config/ardour and it will work for once (including scanning the plugins) but next time I open it, it will crash again.
The file dialog in GTK apps shows an annoying behavior - I have to keep the left mouse button pressed to select something.
Retroarch Fullscreen Windows are completely broken (NDS/DeSmuME with 3x Upscale).
Libre Office Writer's cursor randomly vanishes / gets invisible.
And and and.
I know, X11 is a mess; unfortunately especially these days. But whoever decided to not support X11 anymore in KDE clearly never looked at real world use cases on a normal Linux desktop computer. It's not like, if people go for Kde/Plasma they only use Plasma specific programs. But apparently that is, what the Plasma devs think.
In the end this is a decision that will irritate new Linux users to the max. Especially the ones coming from Windows. A chance thrown down the toilet.
I am back at XFCE4 on X11. Ardour works correctly, as well as file dialogs, Libre Office and Retroarch. It simply works. As it should.
And don't get me wrong, I think Wayland is really really good compared to X11. But I don't really care when it breaks my workflow so much I can not work anymore.
