但是俺在早几日凌晨时段访问时遭遇 DNS 劫持，跳转到一个非法赌博网站、但还好之后已恢复正常

俺怀疑这可能是当地 ISP 的问题，因为俺知道中国大陆有这种情况发生

所以有人做了一个没有 AI 的 HackerNews，先用 API 拿到原版 HackerNews 的内容，再去掉那些 AI 相关的链接（比如提到了 AI，OpenAI，LLM等）

If you want to communicate with your Hermes Agent via #XMPP, here's a plugin for that. Code is extracted from three different PR's to the hermes agent github repo to add XMPP that weren't being merged, and moved into a plugin. I just cherry picked and packaged everything with the help of local models running on my laptop, with a final pass by a cloud model (if you read the readme carefully you can tell what cloud model) to update documentation and fix a few loose ends the smaller (but free and more environmentally friendly) local models left. Everything I could test is working. Unfortunately I don't have an XMPP client that supports reactions, typing indicators, threads, or voice messages. But it connects to the server via a secure connection, and both versions of omemo work. Yes, a lot of work, but something that the likes of #debian could do over a couple of full releases (circa 4 years).
It would require things like the metadata of the app to include the necessary information to automate this, a bit like the proposed PURL - see phoronix.com/news/Fedora-45-Co…

For me, we are coming to a crunch point in #linux. Someone needs to decide if they want to continue with #systemd or move to something less commercially backed, someone needs to decide about #AI slop, someone needs to decide about enforced #wayland and enforced #pipewire (although the latter is not so bad).

We're at a crossroads, and if #linux is to continue to be a truly open platform, some things may need to change or fork, such that end users can have confidence that they're installing true open source software with little to no commercial interests being served, whilst protecting privacy etc.

Perhaps this is where the likes of #antix or #devuan can take up the mantle and improve their offering just a little to take it to the next logical step.

With all the AI slop getting into open source software, even respected ones, I feel we should have a new category in the usual separation between opensource and closed source, like in the debian non-free and cobtrib.

We now need a (free)-ai category, for those projects who finally decided to not care anymore. In reality, we don't even know if they can be categorized as free anymore since the AI has been trained with some various codebase with potential closed source license.

That would maybe make the community fork aggressively the projects who turned stupid.

It's a lot of work, though, and I don't know how maintenable it is.

Our team has been inspecting the Chromium code and disabling stuff from the very first version of Vivaldi (we have some posts about this in our blog, such as vivaldi.com/blog/news/alert-no… or vivaldi.com/blog/no-google-viv…).

We've also been very outspoken about our dislike of the built-in AI trend in the browser industry, but in case there's still any doubts: yes, we disable all Gemini-related features, and we've been doing it for a while.
