Didn't spot any of the butcherbird chicks this morning, but I did spy one sitting alone in their tree. I wonder what they thought of the first rain since they hatched

I didn't see baby butcherburd number 3 this morning - possibly still sleeping in the nest again. The other two seem pretty comfortable moving out into their tree (I assume they're staying where ever they were last fed, but increased mobility means they're moving to where their parents land)

Worried that chick #3 hadn't made it, I was delighted to discover four babies hanging out this morning. I got to do a little call-and-response with a little one who was vocalising too ^_^

Little ones moving further away from the nest this morning. One was still in the nest, and I didn't manage to get a good shot. Last two photos here are from yesterday (final one has all three visible - can you spot them?)

I also spied a baby wattlebird that I hadn't realised was out and about (pretty sure their parent is in the post linked to at the top of this thread)

Baby butcherbirds are getting more and more confident - hanging out in different trees, straying further and further from the nest (not sure if they sleep in it after they fledge, but they do hang around in the tree for a while). I expect I'll loose track of them soon

Hung out with my baby magpie friends a little too long this morning, and ended up late for a meeting. Whoops.

Older sibling was in someone's yard, so I didn't get photos, but I got to watch the younger one waddle across a fence until they were comfortable flying up to a spot they wanted to rest in. Dad was foraging and keeping an eye out. I heard him feed the older sibling while I was with the little one.

Didn't see the older sibling (they were up in a tree in someone's yard, and people get a bit weird if you start taking photos of their back yards), but the younger one was very loudly demanding food, and having the odd peck at some leaves and grass to see if they were food

Baby 2 has made n appearance! Much younger than their older sibling.

Saw more adults around this morning (and a male that was visiting the nest last night - not pictured), one of whom was carrying nesting materials up to a new nest in the same tree

Hung out with my little friend this morning, who seemed comfortable enough with me being nearby to have a little nap. I thought I saw their younger sibling emerge from the lest, but reviewing photos, it was just a branch. Adults have been conspicuously absent. I haven't seen a male in the park in nearly two weeks, and only this female since, who herself isn't super present (though if she's a single parent, I'd expect her to be away foraging a lot)

Saw them again this morning. From the back with their feathers buffed out, I thought for a moment they were an adult and got a bit closer than I would have if I'd have known it was the little one. They seemed a little nervous, but didn't fly away when I backed off.

I met my tiny friend again this morning. I nearly didn't spot them because I was focused on their mum taking food up to a nest - seems like there are two babies!

I met someone new (much older than my first sighting of a baby normally would be, but magpies have been pretty scarce since my friend died and I wonder if that's affected things ;_; )

Being closely watched by a chanate (great-tailed grackle). Wonder if he finds us interesting. 🤔

A flock of flamingos spread their wings at Duden lake, near Konya, Turkey. Turkey’s second-largest lake has become a stark symbol of a growing water crisis, with drought and intensive groundwater use threatening its unique ecosystem.

Only spotted two in the nest this morning. I'm suspecting these are the two smaller butcherbirds and their older sibling has fledged

Here's a photo from just prior , when an adult was dropping off breakfast - the middle chick is wide away and alert. I guess once their parent was gone, they knew the excitement was over.

Earlier in the month, I mentioned a butcherbird nest ( mastodon.social/@Cheeseness/11… ). I got my first glimpse of the chicks this morning. A silent wide mouthed trio, with a clear dominant sibling
